Conservation and Restauration

We work primarily around preventive conservation through technical strategiesand management to prevent our collections from deteriorating. We actively participate indesigning infrastructure, the museum plan and inloan requests for collections. Therefore we train those who carry outmaintenance work, periodic cleaning and ensure security of the rooms.

We carry out conservation and restoration treatments to collections, aiming to stabilize the deterioration processes, perform specialized cleaning and return works to their original visual appearance. We also do this on occasion to works that do not belong to the Museum’s collection, but to that of private individuals’ or partner institutions.

In collaborative projects with researchers and academic institutions, we conducted research to deepen knowledge about colonial art. We receive students wishing to do internships, guiding and supporting themin working on our valuable collections.
